GLOBALLY
Stand Up, Take Action Against Poverty (SUTA) is an annual global mobilisation effort coordinated by the Global Call to Action Against Poverty (GCAP) in collaboration with the UN-Millennium Campaign. This originated from a series of “White Band Days” initiated in 2005, and has since been set to coincide yearly with the International Day for the Eradication of Poverty, 17 October. On this day, concerned citizens all over the world “stand up” against poverty by pledging support for and reminding the world’s governments of their promised commitments to the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs), the largest coordinated anti-poverty effort to date.
LOCALLY
In 2008, SUTA will be arranged over a series of 3 days, 17-19 October. Throughout the nation, ONE (SINGAPORE) aims to involve at least 50 000 people through various channels of support, including events held in places of worships, offices, schools and so on.
